The Show Low Cougars scored 21 second half points to coast to a 31-7 win over the Fountain Hills Falcons in the 2009 3A state semifinals, and avenge two previous losses to the Falcons over the last two seasons.  The Cougar offense was led by an almost perfect night from quarterback Rathen Ricedorff.  The junior completed 10 of 12 passes for 302 yards and two TDs.  He was also Show Low's leading rusher with 65 yards and a touchdown.  Cody Hawkins also rushed for a touchdown as one of his five carries.  Ricedorff's favorite target was Josh Weeks who caught four passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns.

Hawkins was matched by Chase Adams with 10 tackles to lead the defense while Garrison Fawcett contributed 8 tackles.  The defense held Fountain Hills to 176 total yards.  The offense more than doubled the Falcons output with 421 total yards.

The win puts Show Low back in the state championship game where they last appeared (and won) in 2007.  They will face the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets for the third time in a title game (1989, 1999), this time on November 28th in Flagstaff.
