The Show Low Cougars built a 35-14 lead in the second half of their quarterfinal showdown with the Winslow Bulldogs at Campo Verde High School last week, but the Dawgs stormed back late in the game with two Chayse Russell touchdowns in the fourth quarter.  Winslow had possession of the ball for one final chance with seconds remaining but were unable to convert on fourth and long and Show Low held on for a 35-28 victory.

The Cougars were led again by junior quarterback Rathen Ricedorff who threw for 175 yards and three TD's.  His favorite target, Trevar MacArthur, caught five balls for 81 yards and also led the team in rushing with 89 yards on 11 carries.  Cody Hawkins picked up 59 yards rushing and Ricedorff added 43.

Show Low compiled 384 yards of total offense and actually had more yards rushing (209) than passing (175).  Ricedorff's three scoring passes gives him 38 for the year, already a 3A state record.  The overall Arizona record is 49.

The Coug's now move on to a semifinal matchup with the tournament's top seed, Fountain Hills.  The Falcons came up with a last second 23-20 victory over Snowflake.  Fountain Hills kicked a 35 yard field goal on the final play of the game to secure the win.  Show Low lost the Fountain Hills back on week six of the season, 32-27.  Ricedorff threw for 302 yards and rushed for another 135 in that game.  Josh Weeks had a career game for the Cougars with 10 catches, 183 yards and a touchdown.
