Gallery - Blue Ridge vs Florence, '09 Football Playoff Pics E-mail
The Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets came up with a 53-7 win over the Florence Gophers in the semifinal round of the 2009 3A football playoffs on November 21st.  Highlights included a 91 yard touchdown run by quarterback Jake Meixler, one of three rushing touchdowns for the senior, and a team total 622 yards of offense.  Meixler accounted for 346 yards (196 passing, 150 rushing).  Junior Zeck Boyd contributed 71 yards on 8 carries.  Colton Fletcher helped the Blue Ridge defense make due without leading tackler Alex Stebbins (injured November 14th vs Round Valley).  Fletcher led the team with 8 tackles while LB Nick Williams and CB Keevan Schimmel each had 7 stops.  The win puts Blue Ridge back in the state championship game where they will take on the Show Low Cougars, November 28th in Flagstaff.
